R U OK? Day 2014
R U OK? Day is a day which recognises that asking a simple question consisting of 3 small words could make a significant difference to people’s lives. It is aimed at raising awareness of suicide and its prevention by sparking a conversation which shows that people care. It is a question which could save a life.
So how can you be involved? All you simply have to do is ask the simple question of R U OK? to your loved ones, friends or neighbours to encourage a conversation. You don’t need to be an expert, all you need to do is listen.
Here are some tips.
If you know someone who is struggling, facing troubles or feeling overwhelmed. Just take a moment to ask R U OK?
Listen without judgement. Let them know you care or that you understand.
Encourage action or seeking professional help if you think it will be beneficial to them.
If they are not willing to talk about their issues, that’s ok. Just let them know you care.
