Disability Advocacy Service

This service aims to:

 

  • advocate for people with a disability in order to prevent abuse, discrimination or negligent treatment.
     
  • promote and enhance the rights of people with disabilities. 
     
  • encourage people with disabilities to make informed choices.
     
  • advocate for people with a disability in the area of employment and community access.
     
  • ensure that  people with severe disabilities are able to participate equitably in community life.
     
  • increase the knowledge and understanding of people with disabilities, their families and carers about the rights of people with disabilities.
     
  • improve communications between people with disabilities and other members of the community.
     
  • recognise, value and include families and carers, wherever possible and appropriate, in the support system for people with disabilities.
